Tier

tier (noun, pl. tiers) – a distinctly stacked, platform-like scyphus from which lateral branches arise, thus forming regular whorls (or verticils) along the podetia in several taxa of Cladonia (e. g., Cladonia cervicornis ssp. verticillata).
