Hamathecium

hamathecium (noun, pl. hamathecia;ascocarp term) – the interascal or pre-ascal hyphae, a term referring to all hyphae developing between asci of the hymenium, whether of ascohymenial or ascolocular origin; some ascomycetes do not form interascal hyphae, their hymenium is entirely composed only of asci, they lack a hamathecium.
