poriform (adjective) – pore-like, with the shape of a pore, forming a pore; (1) as applied to perithecioid ascocarp, e. g., poriform pseudothecia, i. e., fruiting bodies that are similar to true perithecia, but have a different, ascolocular ontogeny. Related terms: pyrenocarp, perithecium; (2) as applied to apothecia with a disk that becomes progressively enclosed; e. g., in many Pertusaria and some Diploschistes species apothecia become poriform because their margin progressively encloses and almost entirely covers the disk. Opposite: disciform.
